Wait, Why Do We License?

Section 1:

We have ALL heard how we need “bibliographies” and “give attribution” But, why do we do it? Well, I’ll tell you why! First, you know what it is. Attribution is “The act of ascribing work or remark to a particular author, artist, or person.” Now you know WHAT it is. But, still why is it important? We give attribution to tell that the wording or information didn’t come from your own mind. You got it from someone/someplace else and you let the people reading your work know who originally came up with it . Another reason you should do it is because of law. It is actually against the law to use someone else’s work without giving them credit. Don’t believe me? Click here to see for yourself. Anyway, when do we give attribution? If you use little of the author’s words, (1-5) you don’t have to give them credit. If it is anymore than five, you should give them credit at the end. When you give the author credit, you may do this in different ways. First, and always say something similar to “Resources” or “References”. If it is a online video or website, you can give a link at the end to go there. If it is a book, them say the book’s title. You don’t really have to give credit if someone told you in person. Because you can’t really source them without giving their first and last name which is personal information. That is really all you need to know about attribution.

Section 2:

winter memories dan boss via Compfight

Snowy day

All trees covered in ice

One towering over the rest as if watching them

The snow piled onto the ground

Makes the forest a ghostly white

Although animals still come

Millions of footprints that go on forever

Signs warning them it is dangerous here

But they still have courage to go into the cold

It is cold here but there is still life

  1. Hey Kristin! I thought that your post was very informative and I liked the poem about the snowy scene! I would just call it Winter Wonderland

    • Jessie, thank you for the awesome comment! I do have a extra fact for you that I didn’t put on there. In collage, if you use someone’s wording without giving them attribution. You can kicked out of collage. I did have I little trouble coming up with a creative name. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have to think about that. What is your website? I am having trouble finding you. Read more at
